Conservation

The IMMS has been a part of the Marine Mammal Stranding Network for the Gulf Coast including Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama since 1984. IMMS teams have always responded to local marine mammal emergencies as well as those as far away as South America. This has been done as a public service and all care, blood-work, transportation and release costs have been absorbed by the IMMS.

Take A Dip With the Dolphins

It's A Hands-On Experience You Won't Forget!

Our Dolphin In-the-Water Interaction will begin April 12th. The In-the-Water Dolphin Interaction includes:
  • A 45 minute educational session prior to entering the water. This session provides detailed information about dolphins, including physiology, habitats, behavior, breeding, development, and training.
  • The opportunity for others in your group to participate in the educational session.
  • A minimum of fifteen minutes in the water petting, touching, feeding, and learning about the dolphin.
  • Ample time for others in your group to photograph or videotape the in-water portion of the interaction.

The cost for the Dolphin Interaction is $90.00 per in-water participant, which includes admission to the Marine Life Oceanarium. (Others in your group who do not participate are only required to pay admission to the Oceanarium). Participants must be at least 48" tall, (usually between 6 to 8 years old). Although you will be up close to the dolphin, this is NOT a swim program. Particpants must keep both feet on the bottom of the pool at all times.

Please remember that it is necessary to make an advanced reservation by paying with a credit card for your personal experience. The schedule is frequently full, so please call 228-864-2511 ext. 24 today and reserve your interaction!

Dolphin Meet and Greet Program

The Dolphin Meet and Greet is a chance for those who may not be comfortable getting in the water to have an opportunity to interact with a dolphin. Included in the Dolphin Meet and Greet Program is an education session and an interaction session. The overall experience will allow you to:

  • Learn about the biology and natural history of dolphins.
  • Touch, feed, play ball, and interact with the dolphin.
  • Have a friend photograph and videotape your interaction.
  • Learn commands used by the staff to train the dolphins.

Purchase Your Photo Taken With The Dolphin During Your Interaction!

The cost for participation in the Dolphin Meet and Greet Program is $45.00 per participant, which includes admission to the Marine Life Oceanarium. (Others in your group who do not participate are required to pay only admission to the Oceanarium.) Meet and Greet participants must be at least 3 years old with a participating adult, or 4 years old. The Meet and Greet Program lasts for ten minutes.

Although you will not be spending time in the water, it is encouraged that you bring a towel or a change of clothing. Dolphins like to play, and that means you may get wet!

Please remember that it is necessary to make an advanced reservation by paying with a credit card for your personal experience. The schedule is frequently full, so please call 228-864-2511 ext. 24 today and reserve your interaction!
