7 Baby dolphins have been discovered dead on Mississippi beaches from Pas Christian to Biloxi in the past 10 days.
The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies in Gulfport is doing autopsies on the dolphins to try to find a cause of death.
And there is a reason people should be concerned. Dolphins are mammals who eat the same fish and swim in the same water that people do.
Dr Moby Solangi, President of IMMS explains, "Louisiana and Mississippi have the country's largest dolphin populations. Being on the top of the food chain, any changes occuring in that environment are going to be affecting us." He warns, "When they die... we are going to be next!"
